Partner, John E. Wieber, has been given the Special Edition Judicial Award by Martindale-Hubbell. This is the highest possible Martindale-Hubbell distinction by both their peers and the Judiciary. In addition to their AV Preeminent Peer Rating, the Judiciary through Martindale-Hubbell has been given him the Special Edition Judicial Award.

For over 130 years, the Martindale-Hubbell AV Preeminent Rating has distinguished the country's elite attorneys. The Peer Review Ratings are an objective indicator of a lawyer's high ethical standards and professional ability, generated from evaluations of lawyers by other members of the bar and the judiciary in the U.S. and Canada.

An AV Preeminent Peer Review Rating is an outstanding achievement and demonstrates that a lawyer has earned the highest possible rating available for their legal ability and professional ethics. Fewer than 5% of all law firms qualify, making Martindale-Hubbell Bar Register of Preeminent Lawyers the most respoected in the country.

John E. Wieber has received this honor for 16 years in a row.

"This is a case that has been under investigation for over a year by the Michigan State Police and there is quite a bit of information that will need to be reviewed and people that need to be interviewed. Father Fisher has been completely compliant with authorities throughout the process to the point of driving over two days, almost 1000 miles, to actually turn himself in when Michigan State Police erroneously handled the waiver of extradition. We look forward to a fair discovery process and ask people in the community to refrain from forming any judgments and keep an open mind at this time." - Cassandra Green, Wieber Green, PC

The new provisions pertain to the transfer of pistols by way of inheritance. The law does not prevent transfer of ownership of pistols to an heir or devisee, whether by a testamentary bequest or by the laws of intestacy in the state of Michigan, regardless of whether the pistol is registered with the state. A person inheriting the pistol must still obtain a license  within 30 days as required by law before taking physical possession.  If the heir or devisee does not qualify  for a pistol license then that heir or devisee may direct a next of kin or authorized person to dispose of the pistol in a manner that the heir or devise deems appropriate.. A member of law enforcement cannot seize or confiscate the pistol that is being transferred unless that heir or devisee does not qualify for the pistol license and the next of kin or authorized person is unable to retain temporary possession of the pistol or find an alternative lawful storage solution.
